Navigating Business Challenges in Times of Crisis

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted the global economy, altering consumer behavior, reducing demand for goods and services, and forcing the closure of retail locations. These events will undoubtedly become part of history books. Many of us remember what it was like to “work in times of change.” The crises of 2008 and 2014 remain fresh in memory—challenging experiences that ultimately taught businesses how to survive and grow in a new reality.

During the panel discussion, Volodymyr Tsoi outlined the key challenges businesses faced in 2020, emphasizing the importance of teamwork and digital transformation:

Empathy is crucial—toward employees, partners, and customers. 2020 was tough for everyone, making it essential to foster a sense of support and connection.
Innovation and a strong team helped us navigate 2020 successfully. No transformation is possible without a united team, mutual understanding, and readiness for change.
A business owner’s greatest value lies in building a strong team and selecting the right people. However, in times of crisis, leadership also requires engaging the team in decision-making—even when those decisions are difficult.
Technology is no longer optional—it’s a must-have. MTI Group has launched over ten digital transformation projects, including INTERTOP’s implementation of the SAP S/4HANA platform—the first of its kind in Ukrainian retail—completed in a record nine months.
Mistakes are an inevitable part of business. They always happen. The real question is whether you have the courage and resilience to keep going.
